Dr Kaplan-Myrth is here to provide care to her patients, 7 days/week, from 7:30am until 7:30pm, during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, our clinic door is locked and we will only treat patients by telephone and video, at least until early April, 2020. This is in keeping with Ontario Public Health and Ontario Medical Association recommendations at this time. All non-essential care and routine visits that were previously booked will be rescheduled (Veronica will phone you, to reschedule those routine visits, when we can reopen the clinic doors). Note that our after hours clinic is also closed to patient visits right now. Given that they are limited to phone/video, the same as Dr Kaplan-Myrth, you should BOOK ALL APPOINTMENTS WITH US. You can contact our office for any URGENT ISSUES or MENTAL HEALTH concerns and we will schedule a telephone/video appointment for you, on the same day if possible. We will book 15 minute windows to speak to you, by phone/video, and will book longer counselling appointments as needed. Please leave us a detailed message and Veronica will book the time that Dr Kaplan-Myrth will phone you.
If you wish to have a video appointment, Veronica will explain how that works. You can click here to download a guide with information about video appointments or visit https://otn.ca/patients/evisit/.
COVID-19 Recommendations: Children over 6 months old and adults who are symptomatic (fever, cough, difficulty breathing) who have either travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days, or who have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, should go to the Ottawa COVID-19 Assessment Centre. Symptomatic infants under the age of 6 months (fever, cough, difficulty breathing) who have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days, or who have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, should be taken to CHEO (they cannot be seen at the COVID-19 Assessment Centres). Anyone with escalating symptoms (severe difficulty breathing), please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department and pay attention to special signage. To reduce unnecessary exposure to crowds and to reduce the burden on the health care system, please follow these guidelines. If you have no symptoms, STAY HOME, do not go to a COVID-19 Assessment Centre. You will NOT be assessed for COVID-19 if you are asymptomatic. The current recommendation is to self-quarantine for 14 days after travel outside of Canada or if you have come into contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19. Maintain social distance. Check the updates from Ottawa Public Health online by clicking here.
Please take care, everyone. I will see you in the office again when we have the green light to open our doors.
Welcome to my family practice and to Common Ground Collaborative Care.
I am a family doctor, a parent, a feminist community activist and I have a PhD in medical anthropology. I spent years before my medical training working as a social scientist studying health and healing cross-culturally, sexuality, disability, Aboriginal health, women and gender studies, self-determination in health, patient-centred care and healthy policy and politics.
Although I provide care to people of all ages and stages of life, I will set aside clinic time for well baby/child check-ups, adolescent health, GLBTQ health, women’s health (sexual, reproductive and mental health, prenatal and postpartum care, lactation support, menopause, geriatric women's health), attachment parenting, disability, and palliative care.
My associates and professional network at Common Ground include social workers, psychologists, massage therapists, dieticians, lactation consultants and others in the Ottawa area.
